Mike Botts Writes!

Well, after pestering Mike enough times, he was gracious enough to write a little piece for the Web site, so start reading!! (Thanks, Mike.)

Open Letter

1/14/97

This has been a record year for BREAD, quite literally. It began with Rhino records releasing a superb two C.D. compilation called "Retrospective". Then in South Africa, we were presented with a Double Platinum award for the "Anthology" album. After that, we were given a Platinum award in New Zealand for the "Essentials" album. And finally, in Australia we were also given a Gold award for the "Essentials" album.

The audiences have been the greatest! I could sense, from the moment that we came on stage, they were there to listen. Listen to songs that had marked moments in their lives and represented a whole lot of precious memories. Good, bad and bittersweet. Their warmth and enthusiasm was inspiring. Each concert became an evening of great music for an unusually large group of friends. And I mean a LAAARRGE group of friends. Hey! Let's see you try to pull that off in your living room or apartment .................... Good Luck! I'll say one thing; "Bread fans have really BIG EARS" !! Now, before you take it the wrong way, let me explain. In the context of musical slang, that's a good thing. It means that you have a superb set of listening devices affixed to the side of your head and you know how to use them. And for that, we thank you one and all. You made our tour a great success.

We still have many countries to visit. We will be touring through Southeast Asia soon and will eventually tour in South America, Canada, Europe and the U.K. with maybe a few surprises thrown in along the way. As each leg of the tour develops, we will post the information on our website as soon as possible and I'll try to post new entries in the road log ("From The Road") periodically to let you know what's happening through each leg of our Twenty Fifth Anniversary world tour.

On behalf of the group, I'd like to thank you all for making 1996 a fantastic year and I'm sure that with your love and support 1997 will be even better.

The best from BREAD
Sincerely: Mike Botts
